Heatwave

I am feeling more and more that my post-sea-rise/climate change novel should be my next project! We are on Day 4 of this weather, if we get a 5th day over 40 we are into record territory. For my farenheit friends, 44C is 111F. No, this is not normal for anywhere other than the centre of Australia, where it’s mostly uninhabitable desert. The only silver lining will be that heatwaves here are usually broken by magnificent storms which come to the rescue from Antartica, and drop the temperature in spectacular fashion (though a “usual” heatwave is a few days over 35C, so who knows?)

I’m a little envious. It was… -7.2c here this morning on my walk to work. Last week it was -20c not including windchill (with windchill it felt like -30c). I tried to run in that and my turtleneck was frozen stiff with snot.

    1. Hey Alli! I don’t envy you your walk to work at all – or the terrible cold you are having there, but just think back to the Japanese Summer we suffered together – waaay hotter than that! Seriously, if I could, I’d run away from Summer my whole life, if I could – just Autumn, Winter, Spring, Winter would be fine by me (at least one Winter with snow, maybe not two) Apparently the cool change is coming this afternoon, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Japanese summer…… nope, not ringing a bell. I think I would remember such a horrific and humid time of my life…. maybe I’ve blocked it from my memory? 😉
I hope it cools down for you.

      2. It did, I’ve just this second posted a time lapse I took of the sky as it cooled. Unfortunately, the cool change brought storms elsewhere and the air is thick with bushfire smoke, now, even in the city 😦
